Wedding Themes

I was wondering if anyone had any advice about wedding themes?

Also what are the do's and don't of weddings.

I hate weddings that have the dry ice or the disco ball effect on the dance floor.  I think that lack class.

Your too pure to be pink.

Re: Wedding Themes

I like season themed weddings.  I 've always like the idea of a winter wedding.

You could alway go with simple a colour themed wedding.  I saw a celebrity wedding which was set up in a Marquee and the colour they choose for the wedding was red.  You would think that it might be too strong or too bright but it looked magnificent. I think the shades of red choosen were less of the fire engine red and more the deep passionate reds.  I loved it.

Things to avoid would definately have to be cakes with bridges connecting the layers.  That is a little 80's.  Also avoid french rolls and barrel curls.  smile

Re: Wedding Themes

I agree with colour theme.  Or you could even do something like a hollywood glamour wedding with 'Red Carpet' and all that.

My all time favourite wedding theme may be logistically difficult for your guest.  I have thought a rainforest theme would be beautiful.  Northern Queensland would be the perfect location like Cairns.

Peace!

Re: Wedding Themes

I wouldn't get too stressed about the theme to much. A wedding should represent you- any party should. Just have fun with it. A friend of mine catered a Wedding that was held in the couples backyard. They had a Western Theme. The BMs were dressed as Can Can dancers and the GM as cowboys. They had haystacks that was used for seating. Though my caterer friend wasn't impressed, I think it sounded like a ball!

Re: Wedding Themes

I like the idea of a hawaiian beached themed wedding.  Anything outdoors is romantic provided the weather is nice.

Re: Wedding Themes

How about a fairytale theme, like cinderella and prince charming. You could have four white horses and a romantic carriage.  You could wear a tiara and have a medieval carnival as entertainment at your wedding.

Guest could dress up in costume.

Colour themes could be blue, lilac, pink, silver with crystal decorations.  Your gown could be pale blue or silver.

So many themes to choose from.

Re: Wedding Themes

I like the idea of having a ' Mid Summer Nights Dream'  wedding.  It could take place by a lake or in a botanical garden with lanterns and fairy lights in the canapy of trees.   I think it would be beautiful.  Might be difficult to do.  Just a suggestion. smile

Re: Wedding Themes

A masquerade ball wedding theme is my ideal themed wedding.  You can make it really decadent and elegant from extravagent wedding centrepeices to elaborate decorations.  smile

Re: Wedding Themes

These themed wedding ideas sound fantastic.  A friend of my mine is having a gothic themed wedding where everything is red and black.    She is even found someone to make her a cake which has a blood red center.  I think it is a red mud cake.  Sounds interesting.  I can't wait to attend.  wink

Re: Wedding Themes

Another wedding theme that you could try is an Eco friendly or Green wedding.  With all the environmental issues, this is a socially conscious theme idea.   There are heaps of sites including this one with information of environmentally friendly theme.

Have fun.

Peace!
